Small round painful ulcers were noted in the tongue of a 24-year-old man. This has been a recurrent problem. The duration of each episode is about 2 weeks. The lesions are not preceded by blisters. He probably has:
 
  a. Pemphigus vulgaris
  b. Lupus erythematosus
  c. Recurrent herpes simplex
  d. Erosive lichen planus
  e. Aphthous ulcers
