You are writing a grant proposal and are a bit behind schedule. You realize that the deadline is two days away, yet you have another week's worth of work to do in order to get the grant up to par. Which of the following is your best course of action?

  a. Contact the funder and let them know that you will be a week late in
  submitting your proposal.
  b. Hold the proposal until the next year or submit it to a similar funder once the
  proposal is ready.
  c. Submit the proposal once it is ready. As long as it arrives within a week or so
of its due date, there should not be a problem.
  d. Submit the proposal by the deadline even though it is not your best work.
Meeting the deadline is vital and it is better to go ahead and submit it than to
lose an opportunity to be funded.
