Light of wavelength 630 nm passes through a grating and then onto a screen located several meters from the grating. The 1st order bright band is located 0.29m from the central maximum. Light from a second source produces a band 0.23m from the central maximum.

bio_man: Please so a better job with the topic title.
The formula that governs this is y/L = m(wavelength)/d

Since L and d are constant, we can set up a ratio

m(wavelength)/y = m(wavelength)/y

1(630)/.23 = 1(wavelength)/.2

wavelength ~= 484.6 nm
