Week 6
Forum Question: Consider how all animals, including human ones, communicate in some way. In your opinion, is non-human primate communication true language? Why or why not?

Almost all the animals, including human ones communicates with each other through various
modes. Some of the modes used by the animals to communicate with each other includes
Chemical signals(used by some very simple creatures, including protozoa), Sound (eg. very
many vertebrate and invertebrate calls), Smell (related to chemical signals, eg. pheromones
attract, skunk secretions repel), movement, touch, Posture (eg. dogs, geese), Visual signals (eg. feathers), Facial gestures (eg. dogs snarling). There is slight difference between the
communication between the human and other species. Humans possess an innate universal grammar that is not possessed by other species. Apart from the human being, no species in the universe shares common grammar.

Yes, all the non-human primate communication true language. Majority of them either uses their body movements or special signals to communicate with each other. In humans, the language is tends to chance with in them self but this is not case with the other species. All the animals of one species use one language to communicate with each other.
