The nurse researcher has decided to use a table to report data in a research report. What should the nurse consider when constructing this table? Standard Text: Select all that apply.

  1. All the tables should be placed at the end of the report in an appendix section.
  2. Include the test being reported in the title of the table.
  3. Round all numerical entries to the same number of decimal places.
  4. If the researcher provides a clear table, it is not necessary to discuss the findings in the narrative portion of the report.
  5. If the researcher does not have information to place in a table cell, it should be left blank.

Rationale 1: Tables should appear as soon as possible in the report after they have been referred to in the text.
Rationale 2: This information should not be in the table title.
Rationale 3: All numbers in the table should be rounded to the same number of decimal points.
Rationale 4: Information in tables should also be discussed in the narrative portion of the report.
Rationale 5: A dash () should be placed in this cell so that it is clear that information was not left off the table inadvertently.
