When the 87-year-old resident in a long term care facility keeps the volume on his TV turned up high and sometimes does not respond when spoken to, the nurse assesses deficit associated with the aging process, which is:
1.   labyrinthitis.
2.   presbyopia.
3.   presbycusis.
4.   nerve deafness.

Age-related hearing loss (presbycusis) is the loss of hearing that gradually occurs in most of us as we grow older. It is one of the most common conditions affecting older and elderly adults.
