The nurse is administering heparin, subcutaneous twice daily, for a patient in cardiogenic shock. The expected action of this drug is as:
1.   an inotropic to improve cardiac contractibility.
2.   an anticoagulant to prevent blood clots.
3.   an antidysrhythmic to restore normal cardiac contractibility.
4.   a vasopressor to increase blood pressure.
