A patient is taking hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) for hypertension. Dietary teaching would include increasing intake of:
1.   bananas.
2.   apple juice.
3.   sugar-free foods.
4.   low-fat milk.

This is for my medical nursing class

Diuretics reduce fluid volume and can cause hypokalemia. Encourage foods high in potassium, such as bananas and orange juice.
