The UK PEARLS (Perineal Assessment and Repair Longitudinal Study) study designed to assess outcomes of current perineal management,
 
  and establish whether implementation of a standardised evidence-based clinical training package and information for women on perineal health enhances women's experiences of their birth, has found:
  a. a significant reduction in the mean percentages of women reporting wound infections and needing suture removal.
  b. a significant reduction in the mean percentages of women reporting pain at activity 1012 days postpartum.
  c. a significant increase in the mean percentages of women reporting wound infections and needing suture removal.
  d. a significant increase in the mean percentages of women reporting pain at activity 1012 days postpartum.
