In this hypercycle, four components increase their own replication and also positively affect the replication of other members.

How does the presence of a membrane uniting the four components favor the connections directly between the members of the hypercycle in this case compared to a set that did not have a membrane?

What will be an ideal response?

ANS:
An increase in one of the connections here is selectively favored because it has a knock-on effect around the cycle in a positive feedback loop. Without the membrane to unite all of the components, selfish component increases are favored over increases around the hypercycle.
