Similar problem:

An erect object is 50 cm from a concave mirror of radius 60cm, the object is moved to a new position such that the new lateral magnification is +2.5. The new object in cm is closest to?

Answer:

focal length = 60/2=30cm

magnification =-(v/u) = 2.5

v= -2.5 u

1/u +1/v= 1/f

1/u- 1/2.5 u = 1/30

1/u( 1-1/2.5)=1/30

u= 0.6 * 30 = 18 cm
