For a strong critical thinker there is no good excuse for not examining core values, moral opinions, and ethical ideologies. They shape our decisions about what to do in such powerful ways. We saw in the chapter on Ideological Reasoning how risky not reflecting on the truth of our core beliefs and assumptions can turn out to be. We should never assume that our core beliefs and values are right simply because they feel familiar and comfortable.
