Sequence 1:
5' ACGGGCCATGTCAACTGCCATCTAG 3'
3' TGCCCGGTACAGTTGACGGTAGATC 5'
Sequence 2:
5' ACGGGCCATGTTAACTGCCATCTAG 3'
3' TGCCCGGTACAATTGACGGTAGATC 5'

Do I use the top 5' 3' strand or the bottom 3' 5' strand and do I always use that even if the strand switch places from top to bottom (and vice versa)?
I initially thought this is silent since GUU and GUC are the same amino acid, but the answer sheet says it is a missense mutation, can someone explain to me why and where did I mess up?

Thank you!

In genetics, a missense mutation is a point mutation in which a single nucleotide change results in a codon that codes for a different amino acid.

Just to be clear, sequence 1 became sequence 2?

Sequence 1 is the typical gene and Sequence 2 is the point mutation.
