Dalrymple notes that some hold the belief that people should be free to do as they wish so
  long as they alone suffer the consequences. One of his key objections to that idea is that
 
  a. the consequences of our acts affect many others.
  b. it ignores the importance of basic religious principles for preserving societal order.
  c. all freedom is an illusion, because all our behavior is controlled by causal laws.
  d. most people do not really know their own wishes.
  e. society invests in nurturing people to adulthood, and thus society has a right to
