Do you expect nitroethylene to be more or less reactive than ethylene toward anionic polymerization? Explain.

Vinyl monomers with electron-withdrawing groups (EWG) can be polymerized by anionic catalysts in Michael-type reactions. The EWG stabilizes the negative charge of the chain-carrying anionic intermediate.

Since the nitro group is a strong EWG it should stabilize the chain-carrying carbanion intermediate in anionic polymerizations, and thus, be more reactive than ethylene.
