Why is funding for NASA diminished?

I'm just not sure why the gv't has stopped giving money into the exploration and understanding of space and more money on waging war.

The American government is too large and disorganized to allocate money correctly. There is a lot of corruption and money being stolen. The lawmakers need to make their shareholders happy, so they lobby against any idea that involves spending without an immediate return. The whole world has become about money.
