Which type of electrosurgery unit is preferred when a patient has an implanted cardiac pacemaker?

  b. Monopolar unit

The bipolar unit may be used with any type of model because the current does not pass through the patient's body. The current does not pass beyond the tines of the forceps; therefore, it will not disrupt the pacemaker.
