Why are dNTPs used as precursors for the DNA polymerase reaction rather than dNDPs?

What will be an ideal response?

Nuclear magnetic resonance yields the best results when:

  A. proteins have Mr > 25,000r.
  B. two-dimensional NMR is utilized.
  C. 13C and 15N are incorporated into the protein.
  D. the number of restraints is reduced.

A student prepares lysate A from cells with high levels of cAMP and lysate B from cells with very low levels of cAMP. If these lysates were subjected to DNase, it could be predicted that cAMP receptor protein binding sites would be:

  A. not present in either lysate.
  B. protected in lysate A.
  C. protected in lysate B.
  D. equally protected in both lysates.
  E. not occupied in either lysate.

The drawback to using dNDPs is that the reverse reaction is easily initiated by Pi, which is a common molecule in the cell. Using dNTPs produces PPi, which is rapidly eliminated thereby preventing the reverse reaction.
