(Answer to Q. 1)  Answer: Most studies show that people mellow when they move into adulthood. On average, people become less neurotic and more conscientious as they age from young adulthood to middle adulthood, with neuroticism continuing to decline into old age.

(Answer to Q. 2)  Answer: There is a perception that girls' self-esteem plunges at adolescence. There actually is a small decline in self-esteem during middle school that is very similar for boys and girls. However, girls' self-esteem does not increase as fast as boys' does between middle school and high school, leading to a larger sex difference in self-esteem during those years.

(Answer to Q. 3)  Answer: Self-esteem is moderate during elementary school, dips during the early teen years, and then increases during high school and young adulthood.

(Answer to Q. 4)  Answer: Temperament factors in childhood are reasonably good at predicting personality during early young adulthood.
