(Answer to #1)  Although legal letters are the general mode of communication between members of your firm and the outside world, it is not advisable to shoot the client a quick e-mail, as a mode of communication. Your supervising attorney may regularly keep in contact with certain clients by e-mail, but unless you are permitted for a specific reason, or if client has requested correspondence by e-mail, you should maintain all communication in letter form. Unlike a letter, an e-mail can be forwarded to hundreds of people. E-mail messages may also be misdirected to an unintended recipient. E-mail may also not be received because the wrong e-mail address is included or because of technical problems.

(Answer to #2)  TRUE

(Answer to #3)  Do not use legalese with written communication to a client and do not try and impress the client with Latin terminology. Keep all your correspondence clear and understandable. Always assume the client is a lay person with no knowledge of the law.

(Answer to #4)  TRUE

(Answer to #5)  B

(Answer to #6)  FALSE

(Answer to #7)  The basic components of a letter include the following: 1 ) The Letterhead, 2 ) The Date, 3 ) The Mailing Method, 4 ) The Recipient's Address, 5 ) The Reference Line, 6 ) The Greeting,
7 ) The Body of the Letter, 8 ) The Closing, 9 ) Carbon Copies, 10 ) Enclosures, and 11 ) Author and Typist.

(Answer to #8)  TRUE
