Bond certificates were a work of art and are now very collectible. In today’s investing environment, an investor will likely never see a stock or bond certificate unless they are willing to pay extra to receive the certificate. The record of bond ownership is now electronic.  However, you can still own those bond certificates that were mailed out to investors. Of course, they are now matured and have no value as a bond. Let’s look at some of those bond certificates on EBay. Go to www.ebay.com and click on “Collectibles” and then click on “Coins & Paper Money” and then click “Stocks & Bonds, Scripophily.” You can refine your search further by typing “bonds” in the search box in order to look at only bond certificates. As you can see, there are thousands of these certificates for sale. Pick out three different coupon bonds and identify the features of each one.

1. What are the features of the bonds you selected?

2.  What categories of bonds appear to be the most common?
