When aniline is treated with molecular bromine in the presence of a mild base (NaHCO3), polyhalogenation occurs. However, when aniline is treated with molecular bromine in the presence of a strong Lewis Acid like FeBr3, no reaction takes place. Briefly explain this difference in reactivity.
