Suggested Responses: Students should describe early circular reactions which appear in the first months of life and trace their evolution to more complex motor play - including play with parents or peers - in later infancy. Examples might include playing faces in African American families, Kan Dol Dol in India, or batti, batti, le, manini in Italy. Students should describe simple pretenses which emerge at age one and give rise to other-as-agent-play. Pretending with more than one object and transforming objects into things which are completely different in the second year of life should be discussed.
