I am an absolute noob to this board and I apologize ahead of time. However, I need the advice of someone who knows more about zoology/animal pigmentation than I do...

Is there SUCH a thing as "black" pigmentation? I can't seem to find any conclusive articles. When we see "black" in nature, such as a black scale on a snake, or black hair on a horse...is it really black, or is it just really dark brown? Does it just appear black?

Thank for for the help in advance!  Grinning Face
