A clock is showing the time as exactly 3:00 p.m. and 25 s. Because a
full minute has not passed since 3:00, the hour hand is pointing
directly at the 3 and the minute hand is pointing directly at the 12. If
the tip of the second hand is directly below the tip of the hour hand,
and if the length of the second hand is 9 cm, what is the length of the
hour hand?

Reduce 25/60 to get 5/12.

You could also just use 25/60 instead

No, remember that a complete circle has 360 degrees. So I want to know how far the seconds hand has gone from its starting position. By multiplying 360 by 25 out of 60 seconds, it'll tell me how many degrees the seconds hand has moved.

This question requires a bit of outside the box thinking, so to speak
