If you were given a max or min value (x,y), how would you find the the instantaneous rate of change for that point indicated?

Also just making sure but for IROC at a point on a curve, they are not always positive, correct?

IROC can be either positive or negative, depending on where along the curve. Like I said earlier, at the max/min, the IROC is 0, always. To the right of a minimum, you will get positive values, the left you will get negative values. To the right of max, you will get negative, the left you will get positive values.

That it's not always positive? Yes.
