Fact: The upper elevations of high mountain ranges are generally the places with the best wind resources for a region. From your understanding of wind power, why are these areas rarely used to place wind turbines?

▸ The U.S. Government won't allow it.

▸ The winds are usually higher than the stress limits for the turbine blades.

▸ Construction is usually impossible in these areas.

▸ It is too cold for turbines to function.

▸ The turbines may interfere with the habitats of mountain goats.
