Let’s model the Earth’s magnetic field as resulting from a current loop inside the earth, in the
plane of the equator. Specifically, assume the current loop has radius a = RE/2 and its center
coincides with the center of the earth. Given that the magnetic field strength on the Earth’s
surface at the poles is B(RE) = 6.0×10-5
T, what is the magnetic field strength at the center of the
Earth? (RE is the radius of the Earth and equals 6.3×106 m)
