When the musician hits the drum with the drumstick, the force of the stick colliding with the drum causes the drum to vibrate. This vibration is then transferred to the air, creating sound waves. The force of the drumstick is also transferred to the drum, causing it to move in the opposite direction of the drumstick. This is known as the reaction force, and it is equal in magnitude but opposite in direction to the force of the drumstick. Finally, the friction between the drumstick and the drum causes the drumstick to slow down and eventually stop.
