As a colonist, I would seek farmland near a water source, such as a river or lake. This would enable me to irrigate crops even during droughts and facilitate the transportation of crops between locations. Additionally, I would prefer a warmer climate, allowing for year-round crop cultivation. In diversifying my crops, the aim would be to ensure a more resilient and dependable food source. Planting various crops would help mitigate risks associated with crop failures due to pests, diseases, or unfavorable weather conditions. A combination of staple crops like corn, wheat, and potatoes, coupled with complementary vegetables and fruits, would contribute to a more balanced and sustainable diet for the community. Lastly, being new to the land, I would like to learn from the Native Americans about their agricultural methods and incorporate any locally adapted practices that align with the environment.
