Did the depth of the breathing pattern change during rebreathing? (Carefully examine the tracing for rate and depth changes; the changes can be subtle). Explain your observations.

PCO2 should increase during rebreathing because the CO2 gradient is being increased by breathing air with a high CO2 content. The depth and rate of respirations should also increase during rebreathing. This is due in part to the increased CO2 in the blood causing stimulating of the respiratory centers in the brain stem.
