I believe a Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNPs) is just a complex term for a point mutation - a single base pair change at a specific point in a DNA sequence.

Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphisms (RFLPs) detect differences in segments of pieces of DNA. Differences are due to insertions or deletions, but not SNPs - pieces are generated by cutting with restriction enzymes - sizes of pieces (fragments) are determined by gel electrophoresis.
