Author and environmental provocateur Garrett Hardin,  in addressing the issue of energy supply, said, “Whenever it is thought to be impossible to limit the growth of either population or desire, it is impossible to solve a shortage by increasing the supply” (emphasis his). Explain why you agree or disagree with this statement. Can we ever accommodate the world’s increasing demand for oil? (If you have some background in economics, cite reasons why an economist might disagree with Hardin’s quotation).
