Hybrid cars are becoming popular in the U.S., but the present generation does not permit the car to be “plugged in” at night or when parked to recharge batteries. Experts claim this improvement could double city mileage for hybrids. Research this issue, and determine why manufacturers like Toyota will not sell cars that can be plugged in.

Manufacturers will not sell “plug-in” hybrids because they say batteries could not stand up to constant discharging and charging. If battery technology improves, plug-ins can play an important part in a transition to sustainability.
