let x be the length of the field and y be the width

xy=area which is given

2x+2y=perimeter which is given

solve for either x or y in one of the 2 equations and then substitute it into the other equation

Write an equation for the perimeter:

2*W+2*H = 400

Then write an equation for the area:

W*H = 8000

solve for W from the perimeter:

W = 200 - H

Substitute into the Area Function:

(200-H)*H = 8000

Expand

200*H - H^2 = 8000

Solve for H using the quadratic formula, then substitute the H value in to either your area or perimeter equations.
