Can someone tell me why the organism S. epidermidis does not react to fermentation of sugars such as glucose, fructose, and mannitol? I am assuming that it is aerobic and requires the use of oxygen so the fermentation process is not possible, but is there any reaction when the organism is combined with the sugar in a peptone broth? Any knowledge would help!
