If someone has a disorder that inhibits gluconeogenesis (say a defective pyruvate carboxylase enzyme) and therefores requires a steady supply of glucose to stay alive, would fructose be an acceptable alternative? This is just in terms of metabolic pathways, not insulin or liver function or anything like that.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

I guess since the fructose can easily enter the pathway by being phosphorylated into fructose 6 phosphate an intermediate  in the gluconeogenesis pathway.

energy wise yes, but I think that there is a problem with the feeling of satiety (based on whether there is negative feedback on the enzyme) which is why modern fructose laden foods make you fat
