I don't understand this question. Please Help.

Burl the painter has a weight of 600N and carries a 100-N bucket of paint. He scales a building on a scaffold that is suspended by two pulley scales. The left scale reads 700N while the right scale reads 500N. What is the weight of the scale?

F.Y.I. There Is a hint in my textbook. It says: Doesn't this make you think of the equilibrium rule?

Total for the two scales readings is 1200 N. Subtract painter and paint to get 500 N, which must be the two scales. If they are identical, they each weigh 250 N
