Dna has bases - adenine, guanine, cystein, and thymine.  The order of these bases determine the information the piece of DNA conveys just as the order of letters determine the spelled word.

The bases of the DNA molecule are grouped in threes called codons. These codons are complementary with a amino acid carrying tRNA the oder of the codons determines the order of the amino acids which determines protein function.
