Why would a large number of offspring be more likely to match Punnett-square ratios than a small number would?

Because if I am Bb for example, I don't give EXACTLY 50% B and 50% b.  Only in very large numbers will this trend closer and closer to 50/50.  So in a Punnett square, a 1:2:1 ratio BASICALLY holds, and will hold better with higher numbers.

Bigger number of offspring would be more likely to match the ratios.

For example, you go to the ocean and get a cup full of ocean water. If there are no fish in that cup, does that mean that there are no fish in the ocean?

Cup = Small test size
Ocean = Large test size

Ocean = more accurate
