This is true, molecules that pass through the lipid-bilayer by the means of active transport require energy to do so which is provided by the hydrolysis of ATP to ADP. Other smaller molecules that pass through the lipid-bilayer by means of diffusion for example, do not require any energy to do so as diffusion is a passive process.
