*The 6 "rights" of medication administration are basic to administering to anyone, but adminstering to a child is much more complex, because of their immature body systens and varying sizes. The six "rights are: right medication, right patient, right dose, right route, right time, right documentation.

*Always caluclate the childs weight in kilograms if the medication is ordered as a dose per kilogram.

*7 routes of medication adminstration are: oral, Intramuscular, eye, ear, and nose drops, rectal, and Intravenous

*Preferred muscle for IM injections is vatus lateralis
