Guidelines for intermittent auscultation of fetal heart rate (FHR) during labor include the following:
A.   Assess the FHR each hour for 1 full minute.
B.   An ultrasound device or a fetoscope may be used.
C.   Determine the FHR only during uterine contractions.
D.   In the second stage of labor, assess FHR every 30 minutes.
