The English had no qualms about occupying Jamestown and claiming Virginia as theirs because:
A) there were no Indians of any number in the vicinity.
B) they had defeated the Powhatan Confederacy and rightfully seized Virginia.
C) they argued that the Indians were mere wild animals and outside the bounds of civilization.
D) the Spanish had been in the Chesapeake earlier and had to be opposed.
