In Nomenclature what would happen if there was an alkene as your alkyl group with an alkane that had a longer chain, hence it remains an alkane?

The it's no longer an alkyl group it's an alkenyl group
You're going to need two numbers:  
first to state the position of branching where the alkenyl group joins the alkane chain
second to state where the double bond is in the branch.

hence, you could have something like 5-(prop-1-enyl)decane
ten carbons in an alkyl chain, three carbons branched off at carbon number 5, with a double bond after the first carbon in the branch.
