Is there any specific and easy way I can look over a formula and just know where to put them?? Like signs I can look for?

Put a bracket over the entire polaytomic ion if you are using more than one. Charges aren't neccesarry to write down unless you are doing something to the equation (ionization for example).

For example, something totally random
magnesium bicarbonate : Mg(HCO3)2. The 3 and the 2 are subscripts.
Mg has a charge of 2+ and bicarbonate has a charge of 1-.
