Negative feedback mechanism takes place when there is too much of a certain stuff, then the body automatically shut off a production of that stuff to control its level.

Negative feedback mechanisms reduce things that are bad for the body into acceptable ranges.
(ex. body heat is reduced by sweating.)

Tends to reduce the input signal that caused it
Prevents sudden, severe changes in the body
Corrects the set point
Causes opposite of the bodily disruption to occur
Limits chaos in the body by creating stability
Most common type of feedback loop
Examples
Body temperature, blood pressure and glucose regulation

 Body Temperature
We have set body temperature of 98.6
Example
Stimulus: Body Temperature rises above normal
Receptors : Thermoreceptures send signals to the control center (hypothalamus)
Control Center:  Hypothalamus  detects the deviation from the set point and signals and effector organs
Effectors: Skin blood vessels dilate and sweet glands secrete
Response: Body heat is lost to surroundings, temperature  drops towards normal
