Add 2 to the other side, making it |9-2x| < 1
take out the brackets- 9-2x < 1
subtract 9 from the other side- -2x < -8
divide each side by -2, making it:  x < 4

FIRST you MUST get rid of the -2 on the left....ADD 2 to both sides

I(9-2x)l-2<-1
..........+2..+2

I (9-2x) I < 1..................When you have  I....I <.......write

-1 < 9 - 2x < + 1...........Subt  9 from all THREE parts
-9...-9..........-9

-10 < - 2x < - 8............Div by -2...........switch < to >
***.....****...****
-2......-2......-2

5 > x > 4......................Read backwards

4 < x < 5.........ANSWER

ALL HAIL  KING  DAVID

Have a good day sir.
