Why is t dangerous to heat a liquid in a distilling apparatus that is closed tightly at every joint and has no vent to the atmosphere?

Upon heating, the organic compound will vaporize (that is the point in a distillation after all), and therefore the pressure inside the apparatus will build. If it is tightly sealed, the pressure will build until the whole things breaks and then explodes. That's never good. Usually distillation is done either open to air, or if the compound is air or water sensitive, the distillation is done under nitrogen or argon gas with a oil bubbler used as a one-way valve - gas from inside the apparatus can escape, but no air from the surrounding can enter.
