The pancreas secretes insulin, when blood sugar levels are high to store the excess glucose as glycogen in the liver. The pancreas also secretes glucagon, which breaks up the glycogen in the liver when blood sugar levels are low. The adrenal glands, located on both kidneys, secrete adrenaline/epinephrine, noradrenaline/norepinephrine, aldosterone, cortisol, and DHEA. Adrenaline is secreted when their is a threatening stimulus and acts to dull some of your sense so that you cannot feel pain and fatigue and heighten others, such as vision and speed. Noradenaline acts by slowing the heart rate and calming the body. Aldosterone promotes the reabsorption of water and sodium, cortisol increases blood sugar and blood pressure, and DHEA has a wide range of functions and is the most prevalent hormone in the body.
